As a result of an extensive strategic planning process, the board of directors of the Charitable Foundation of the Islands pivoted its direction and established a vision and mission that aligns with community needs and has moved forward to establish three programs, the first of which is Leadership Sanibel-Captiva, which launches Jan. 11, 2022 with a talk by Porter Goss regarding the Sanibel Plan and runs through March 22, 2022, culminating with a “graduation” celebration dinner and class feedback session at the Captiva Island Yacht Club.
The purpose of the program is to educate leaders about challenges and opportunities present on Sanibel and Captiva, build connections and collaborations between people and ideas, and prepare and encourage the next generation of leaders to be committed to strengthening and improving the quality of life in our community. Twelve candidates were chosen out of a field of 42 and represent a balanced, intergenerational class.
“The planning committee purposely designed a small inaugural year class to preserve quality, deliver solid content for each session and create an exciting and engaging ‘behind the scenes’ experience that would set the stage for future years”, commented Ralph Clark, Board member and Chairman of the Leadership-Sanibel Leadership 2022 program.
The Leadership program planning committee is proud to announce the members of the class of 2022 who will experience five, day-long, deep-dive sessions ranging from government to arts and culture with the rare opportunity to go “behind the scenes” to explore the resources and issues affecting Sanibel and Captiva’s quality of life and future.
