Community Housing and Resources, the island’s affordable housing non-profit organization, welcomes Shelley Greggs as a new board member. CHR has been helping the workforce and seniors of Sanibel Island since 1979.
Greggs has a strong commitment to volunteering and community service. She first volunteered at a women’s shelter in Newark, N.J., when she was in high school, and her involvement in various volunteer organizations has continued. Locally, Greggs has volunteered for CHR fundraising, Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation education and events committee, Sanibel Sea School, FISH of Sanibel-Captiva and as a Big Brothers tutor.
Greggs previously served on the SCCF board from 2016 to 2020. She cares deeply about environmental conservation, education and social justice.
Greggs, a long-time island homeowner, has a background in school psychology and education, having worked in the public school system in Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as an adjunct faculty at Florida Southwestern State College. She is also a certified yoga instructor and teaches at the Sanibel Recreation Center.
