The City of Sanibel issued a heavy traffic advisory just before 1 p.m. today, Feb. 25, that will be in effect through early evening. The advisory stated more than 6,049 vehicles had entered the island and as a result motorists should expect delays exiting the island. It is recommended to avoid discretionary trips until traffic dissipates.
Sanibel Police Chief Bill Dalton urges drivers to “be patient. Our number one priority is safety. Please do not be a distracted driver; give your full attention and follow the direction of law enforcement and traffic personnel on scene.”
