The Sanibel and Captiva communities celebrated a milestone: the opening of the new BIG ARTS facility. The $14 million project broke ground in April 2019 and the doors opened to the public Saturday, Jan. 25 with live music performed by Island Jazz, the BIG ARTS Concert Band and Community Chorus, as well as food provided by Rib City. Its state-of-the-art facility features a bigger stage, an elevator, safe and easy access, comfortable seating, dynamic sound, more room for social gatherings, an outdoor performance space and better classrooms.
