The Sanibel community is invited to come together and welcome Dr. Thomas “Tom” Millins, the new principal of The Sanibel School, during a Community Meet & Greet on Friday, July 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Sanibel School, 3840 Sanibel-Captiva Road.
Dr. Millins, who began his new role on July 1, brings more than 27 years of experience with the School District of Lee County to The Sanibel School. An experienced educator and administrator, he has served in school-based leadership roles at Edgewood Academy, North Fort Myers Academy for the Arts, and Pine Island Elementary.
Known for his student-centered approach and community-focused leadership, Millins earned particular praise during his time at Pine Island Elementary for helping guide the school and surrounding community through the difficult aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
In addition to his school-based leadership experience, Millins has served on multiple district committees, including the Code of Conduct, District Advisory Council, and Safety Committees. He also previously worked as an Internship Coordinator at Nova Southeastern University, assisting master’s degree students completing educational leadership internship requirements.
The July 24 event, themed “Charting a Course for Success,” will offer an informal opportunity for members of the broader Sanibel community, parents, students, prospective families, and alumni to meet Dr. Millins and learn more about The Sanibel School’s future.
Dr. Millins will offer remarks sharing his vision for the school at 5 p.m. Attendees will also have an opportunity to learn more about The Sanibel School Fund and the PTA, ask questions, and explore ways to volunteer and support the school. Light refreshments and snacks will be served.
All members of the Sanibel community are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The Community Meet & Greet is separate from The Sanibel School’s official school open house, which will be held Thursday, August 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. for students and their families.
