The generosity of the Sanibel Captiva Islands community and partnerships supporting the “in community” camp on Sanibel was dramatically visible to all before, during, and after the camp session. City officials, businesses, nonprofits, and the faith community came together to meet the needs of adults with special needs and their caregivers. The camp included 20 campers, 35+ in-kind supporting organizations and businesses, and 150 individuals requesting to volunteer.
Thanks in large part to the generosity of Tony Lapi and the ‘Tween Waters Inn, accommodations were provided at no cost to caregivers during the three days at the camp.
Trailways Camps camping experiences provide respite time for caregivers, but what this unique and special generosity added was overnight rooms and quality service at this first-class resort- an unforgettable vacation time that most have never experienced.
In the words of island resident Deborah Bouchard. The ‘Tween Waters time was fantastic! Everything was wonderful—pool time, beach, fishing, service, and for my husband and me a precious time for just the two of us to spend together.”
