Accessory Structures. City Council on July 21, 2026, unanimously passed an ordinance that will provide better clarity and consistency in evaluating accessory structures within front yards, including on multiple-frontage lots. The Planning Commission worked on this for several months before it progressed to City Council. “It’s taken six or seven months, and I look forward to passing this,” said Council member John Henshaw.
Parks & Recreation Month. City Council issued a proclamation declaring July as Parks & Recreation Month, as did the U.S. House of Representatives. “It is most appropriate that we recognize the benefits derived from parks and recreation resources and the accomplishments of the Parks and Recreation Department,” Mayor Mike Miller read from the proclamation. Among the benefits of parks and recreation are promoting health and wellness, improving the physical and mental health of people, promoting time spent in nature, education activities, and ensuring the ecological beauty of the community.
