Couple Struck by Lightning Saturday on a Sanibel Beach

A couple was struck by lightning at 4:52 p.m. Saturday, July 24, on the beach at Sanibel Beach Club, 626 Nerita St., the city said in a news release. Officers arrived on the scene and found bystanders performing CPR on the male and attending to his wife who was conscious and breathing. Officers took over CPR and deployed their AED and continued life-saving measures until Sanibel Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene.

The city said both victims were transported to a local trauma center for further treatment and evaluation.
