Sanibel Fire and Rescue District responded to a condominium fire at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13 at 503 E. Gulf Dr. It appeared to be caused by faulty electrical wiring as crews had to knock out part of the exterior wall to put out the flames. Sanibel Fire Chief Bill Briscoe said that made it a “difficult fire” to fight. An official cause has not been determined.

No injuries were reported and the scene was cleared at 1 p.m. Fort Myers Beach and Iona-McGregor fire crews also responded to the scene, along with the Lee County Emergency Services. Sanibel Police assisted in directing traffic.
