Islanders, friends, and family are invited to the community-wide FISH OF SANCAP Friendly Faces Luncheon at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the Sanibel Recreation Center, 3880 Sanibel Captiva Rd.

Lee County Mosquito Control District Communications Director Jenifer McBride will be the featured guest speaker. You can also hear McBride speak virtually.

LCMCD is the largest mosquito control district in Florida because the county is one of the country’s most prolific breeding habitats. McBride will discuss the complex integrated pest management operations, research, and education behind citizens living more comfortably in paradise.

McBride is honored to help the community understand the county’s unique health and pestiferous challenges as a prolific breeding ground for mosquitoes.

She has a bachelor’s degree in education from Barry University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She spent 16 years working for the Lee County school district as an educator, STEM teacher, coach, and administrator.

“We’re interested in learning about the vast mosquito breeding habitat we live in and how the Mosquito Control District supports our community,” said FISH Senior Services Director Erika Arnowitz.

Reservations and meal choices must be sent to Arnowitz at erika@fishofsancap.org or by phone at 239-472-4775 before Friday, Sept. 6. Sanibel Deli will provide a complimentary lunch to all in-person guests. There is no lunch option for virtual participants.

FISH will also host group games and giveaways at the luncheon. Space is limited.
