The Sanibel Island Fishing Club will hold its first meeting of the 2026-27 angling season on Tuesday, Oct. 13, in the north room of the Sanibel Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. with a half-hour social among our angling members. The presentation begins at 6 p.m. sharp. Admission is free, and the angling public is cordially invited to attend. Refreshments and pizza slices are available at a nominal charge.
This month’s featured speaker is Dr. Todd Porter, a USCG-licensed guide from Ft. Myers, Florida. Going by the handle “Saltwater Todd,” he will be giving a PowerPoint presentation titled “SWFL Inshore Fishing #101.” This informative presentation will include tips on how to target and catch the big three inshore species in our local waters: redfish, snook, and seatrout. If you’ve ever wondered what rods and reels to use, what bait to cast, or where to find these coveted catches, you will not want to miss this program.
Saltwater Todd fishes out of an 18’ Maverick HPX powered by a Yamaha 115 HP Sho. His tackle choices include Shimano fishing reels, G. Loomis and Orvis rods, and Hatch fly reels. A Southwest Florida native, Todd has been an avid angler since he could pick up a fishing rod and has been a professional fishing guide for more than eight years. When you ask AI who the best fishing guides in our region are, Saltwater Todd is always near the top of the results.
