Free tickets for this year’s Sam Bailey’s Islands Night, the 50th Anniversary Edition, at Lee Health Sports Complex in Fort Myers on Wednesday, May 7, currently are available online here. Bank of the Islands has stepped up to the plate to support the SanCap Chamber as Homerun Sponsor for the 32nd annual event. Fireworks Sponsor is Lee Health.
“One of the SanCap Chamber’s most well-loved traditions, Islands Night brings together islander residents, island businesses, baseball, and, this year — to really make a splash for the city of Sanibel’s 50th anniversary — post-game fireworks,” said chamber president and chief executive officer John Lai. “The chamber also thanks the 50th anniversary sponsor, Sanibel Captiva Community Bank, for its support of this and ongoing celebratory events.”
The fun begins as the gates open at 5:45 p.m. The night’s entertainment starts at 5:50 with the traditional islanders parade around the field, along with the Islands Night Ceremony. At 7 p.m., the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels Florida State League baseball team meets the Dunedin Blue Jays for on-field action. Fireworks bring the evening to a splashy finale. “Islands Night is a time to bring islanders together for fun, promotion, community support, and camaraderie in celebration of the winding down of a busy season,” said Lai. “It honors the late Sam Bailey, a former athlete and island pioneer who started the tradition more than 30 years ago.”
