Friends of The Sanibel Community House are planning to design and build a “time bench” instead of the usual buried time capsule. In this version, sealed boxes of varying sizes will be placed inside the waterproof time bench and retrieved in 25 years. But the project needs a name.
Friends of the Community House is challenging the public to name this upcoming project. And one large box worth $150 will be given to the contest winner. Ideas can be emailed to Allison Davis (office@sanibelcommunityhouse.net). Contest ends soon.
The boxes will be filled with cultural and educational treasurers from the present and saved for future generations. They will be available for purchase through the Community House.
“In addition to being a fundraiser, the bench will give the Sanibel Community a place to site until 2047,” said Friends of the Community House project chairman Ken Burgener.
