Kiwanis Reinstates Sale of ‘Diner’s Delight’ Coupon Books

provided to Santiva Chronicle

Now that local restaurants are beginning to re-open as Coronavirus restrictions ease, the Kiwanis Club has reinitiated sale of its “Diner’s Delight” Coupon Books offering 2-for-1 savings on entrees at participating businesses. Everyone should stay safe, but it’s time to dine!

In addition to raising funds for the Kiwanis Club’s service work, the “Diner’s Delight” program is designed to give a promotional boost to local restaurants during the second half of the year when out-of-town visitors have departed. And traditionally it gives Islanders an opportunity to try out new places to dine and revisit old favorites.

However, this year has been far from traditional, given the struggle that restaurants have had to survive being shut down for months. Kiwanis is hoping that this year’s “Diner’s Delight” coupons will encourage island residents to get back in the habit of going out to eat and give some extra support to their favorite dining places. Our community is blessed with some great restaurants, and we can show our appreciation by helping them get back on their feet. And don’t forget those servers.

Coupon books can be obtained from Kiwanis members or purchased at Bank of the Islands, Sanibel Captiva Community Bank island branches, Tortuga Beach Club, Shell Island Beach Club, Island Pharmacy, Bailey’s General Store, Island Winds, Periwinkle Park, and Big Red Q Printing as long as they last. Purchase price is $40 per book, and each book has coupons valid at 30 local eating establishments through Dec. 18, 2020. Kiwanis suggests calling ahead to restaurants to confirm operating hours, seating situation and their policy regarding how “Diners Delight” coupons can be used at their establishment.

Restaurants in the Coupon Book this year include: Blue Giraffe, Bubble Room, Doc Ford’s (Sanibel and Captiva), Dunes Club, Cielo, Island Cow, Island Pizza, Jerry’s Café, Joey’s Custard, Lazy Flamingo (Periwinkle and Santiva), Mudbugs, Matzaluna, Normandie Seaside Café, Rosie’s, Stillwell Restaurants (Keylime Bistro, RC Otters, Sunshine Seafood, Captiva Cantina), Sanibel Deli & Coffee Factory, Sanibel Fresh, Sanibel Sprout, Subway, Seabreeze Café, Sunset Grill, Thistle Lodge, Timbers, and ‘Tween Waters Captiva House.

In addition to promoting restaurant patronage, the Coupon Program is an important fundraiser for Kiwanis, funding the Club’s scholarships for Island students and its grants for youth sports, recreational and educational activities. All the funds raised by the Coupon Books stay on the Island to benefit local youth. Over the past thirteen years, Kiwanis has awarded 277 scholarships with a value of $396,000.
