This Satuday evening, February 29, island residents and visitors alike will find their way to the Kiwanis Spaghetti Dinner for a tasty meal, lively community spirit, and a chance to win an exciting array of raffle and auction prizes. It’s the perfect excuse to avoid the kitchen and enjoy a casual evening of fun.
The annual fundraiser will be held at the Sanibel Community House. Doors open at 4:00 PM and dinner is served until 7:30 PM. Dinner is followed by dessert and musical entertainment and the awarding of raffle and auction prizes. The live auction will begin at 8:00 PM.
Sanibel’s largest and longest-running community get together (now in its third decade), the annual Spaghetti Dinner is favorite of young and old. Admission is $10.00 in advance or $11.00 at the door, and children under 10 eat free. Advance tickets can be purchased at Bailey’s, Bank of the Islands, San Cap Community Bank, Island Pharmacy, Big Red Q Printing and Periwinkle Park.
Diners get a complete Italian feast: all-you-can-eat spaghetti, marinara sauce and meatballs, salad, garlic bread and beverages–wine and soda. Following dinner, dessert and coffee are available for purchase in the auction & raffle room. Desserts will again feature the popular Bubble Room cakes.
Competition for the raffle and auction prizes can be spirited, with items including vacations, golf outings, resort and restaurant packages, plus lots of unusual and interest artwork, merchandise and services.
Said Aaron Pruss, Kiwanis President: “The Kiwanis Club is proud to throw this party once a year that the whole community can enjoy. And it’s for a good cause. All the funds raised by the event will be used by the Kiwanis Foundation during the coming year to underwrite the Club’s scholarship program for deserving students and other programs supporting Island youth.
Numerous Island businesses join Kiwanis in sponsoring the dinner, including: Cielo, Bank of the Islands, Billy’s Rentals, Sanibel-Captiva Community Bank, The Bubble Room, Bailey’s General Store, Sanibel Captiva Trust Company, Sanibel Golf Club, Sanibel-Captiva Beach Resorts, Island Inn, Barefoot Charlie’s Painting Co., Sanctuary Golf Club, Sundial, and The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club. Many others contribute food items and prizes, making this event a true community-wide event.
