Library Exhibiting Artwork by Sanibel Painter

provided to The Santiva Chronicle

Vreni Scheu, a painter using oils and watercolors, is currently exhibiting her work through April at the Sanibel Library, 770 Dunlop Rd. Her favorite subjects to paint include many buildings on Sanibel and those found in her travels. She also loves to paint animals.

Scheu started taking painting lessons in her hometown of Oyster Bay on Long Island. Upon retirement, she joined the Oyster Bay Teaching Studios and took lessons from many well known artists. She moved to the island in 2003 and continued her studies with Hollis Jeffcoat, Ann Kittel and Mary Klunk. Scheu is the treasurer of the Sanibel Captiva Art League and a frequent painter with the Painting with Friends Group at the Sanibel Community House.

The library is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays.
