The 100+ Women Who Care Sanibel-Captiva celebrated a successful inaugural meeting with 106 members, awarding a $10,000+ grant to Community Housing and Resources (CHR) to support affordable housing initiatives on Sanibel and Captiva.
With members gathering both in person and via Zoom, the meeting featured three presentations from local nonprofit organizations: Community Housing and Resources, Captiva Civic Association, and Trailways Camps.
Following the presentations, members cast their votes, resulting in a tie. After a second round of voting, CHR was selected as the first recipient of the 100+ Women Who Care $10,000+ grant.
“We are thrilled with the enthusiasm and generosity of our members,” said Jane Majeski, Charitable Foundation of the Islands Board Member and Chair of the Planning Committee. “This initiative is already making a significant impact, and we look forward to seeing how CHR utilizes the funding to support the community.”
At a future meeting, members will hear an update from CHR about how the funds have been used or are planned to be used.
The next meeting of 100+ Women Who Care Sanibel Captiva is from 9 to 10 a.m. March 4, at the Sanibel Captiva Realtors Association, 2353 Periwinkle Way, Suite 201.
