Man Takes Plea Deal in Sanibel Video Voyeurism Case

Dana Caruso

Dana Alan Caruso of New Hampshire was convicted Monday, Nov. 27 on multiple counts of video voyeurism after reaching a plea deal. Caruso was sentenced to five years in prison followed by 10 years of probation. He will also be registered as a sex offender for life.

Caruso was arrested in August 2022 after employees of the Sanibel Public Works Department discovered a suspicious fire alarm on the wall in the family restroom at Bowman’s Beach Park. Sanibel Police conducted an investigation in which they discovered who installed the video recording device in the fake fire alarm. An arrest warrant was secured and law enforcement officers arrested Caruso in Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.

The device installed by Caruso in July 2023 in the family restrooms at Bowman’s Beach Park are shown in police photos

“I want to thank everyone involved in the investigation and prosecution of this case,” said Sanibel Police Chief Bill Dalton. “It’s a very good think that this individual is off the streets and behind bars.”
