Minor Vehicle Crashes Reported; Police Issue Two Citations

Sanibel Police issued two citations this past week.

Taylor McGrath, 19, Foreston, Minn., was traveling west on Sanibel Captiva Road at 1:34 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, when an eastbound vehicle operated by Catherine Rodriguez, 56, Nellysford, Va., attempted to turn left on Pine Avenue and struck her vehicle. Rodriguez was cited for failure to yield to right of way. No injuries were reported, but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Kristopher Heveron Sr., 35, Port St. Lucie, Fla., attempted to drive his motorhome under the pavilion at the Chevron gas station, 1015 Periwinkle Way, on Saturday, May 30, when the roof-mounted air conditioner struck the front of the pavilion and dragged under it for approximately 18 inches before striking a light fixture. Heveron was cited for careless driving.

Rachel Lazorik, 67, Sanibel, was traveling east through the parking lot at Bailey’s General Store, 2477 Periwinkle Way, on Tuesday, June 2, when a vehicle operated by Rachel Stokes, 39, Sanibel, was backing out of a parking space and struck her vehicle.
