The Sanctuary Charity Classic was held on Saturday, Jan. 25 and proved to be a success on every metric. John McCabe, President of the newly formed Sanctuary Golf Club Foundation, reported, “We were elated to see everyone pull together and exceed our goal of raising funds to benefit human needs on our islands. The outpouring of generosity confirms our club and our community truly care and support those in need on Sanibel and Captiva.”
A Great Time for the Greater Good of Everyone on Our Islands
More than 200 participants showed up at The Sanctuary Golf Club to help raise money for those non-profit organizations focused on individuals in need living or working on Sanibel or Captiva. A fun golf tournament was held during the day topped off by a helicopter golf ball drop and reception with gourmet food stations and live music in the early evening. Steve Peltzman, Chair of the event stated, “the people that show up come for a good time, love to play golf, but are here to make a difference—we think they achieved all three goals”.

A Great Golf Course on a Wonderful Sanibel Sunny Day
Jim DiMarino, Director of Golf confirmed that, “a full-house of golfers showed up and demonstrated a high level of golf skills navigating our challenging course which we were delighted to have in terrific shape thanks to ideal conditions and our dedicated course crew. Winning this tournament required the players be on their game.” Congratulations to this year’s champions.
