Islanders, friends and family are invited to the community-wide FISH OF SANCAP Friendly Faces Luncheon at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11 at the Sanibel Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way. A virtual option is also provided. Reservations and meal choices are required by Friday, June 7 to Erika Broyles by calling 239-472-4775. Zoom instructions for those joining virtually will be provided with RSVP. There is no meal delivery available for virtual participants.

“Naples Compost will join us to discuss the importance of composting and provide an overview of the services they provide in our area,” said FISH Senior Services Director Ericka Broyles. “Amanda, our guest speaker, will talk about what composting is, why it is so important, how it can help Southwest Florida specifically and how we can all get involved. Sanibel Deli will provide lunch, complimentary to all guests, and we’ll have our very popular games and giveaways.”

Food waste is rampant, and the statistics are staggering, according to Naples Compost. 1.3 billion tons of food are wasted totaling a loss of $1,000,000,000,000. Instead of wasting the scraps in landfills and throwing away trillions of dollars, Naples Compost can take food scraps and turn them back into nutrient rich/fertile soil that can be used by individuals for gardening or farmers to improve crop growth.

Naples Compost offers residential and commercial composting services, natural gardening products, and animal composting services in all of Collier County, Lee County and Hendry County. Their mission is to provide sustainable and affordable solutions to reduce organic waste that ends up in landfills while promoting the use of chemical-free fertilizers and soils. They collect organic waste and use a proprietary composting process to convert it into nutrient-rich compost. Naples Compost is committed to promoting sustainable living and responsible waste management since 2018, to help individuals and businesses reduce their carbon footprint and protect the environment.
