The Progressive Club of the Islands will Zoom with School Board Member Betsy Vaughn on Thursday, September 23 at 4:00 PM to learn the issues currently facing our School Board and discuss how we as citizens can be helpful.

Vaughn was elected to the Lee County School Board, Precinct 6 (at large) in November 2018. In 2014, Vaughn retired from a career as a secondary English Language Arts Teacher, which included 19 years as an English Department Chair at a large suburban Dallas high school and eight years here in Lee County at Estero High School.

Vaughn has worn many “volunteer hats”’ since 2014. She has been a tutor and mentor in the schools, a volunteer at the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, and a Community Conversations discussion leader. Presently she volunteers as a Guardian Ad Litem Child Advocate and Education Surrogate, and is Scholarship Chair for the Haitian-American Community Coalition of Southwest Florida.

The meeting is interactive with time provided for questions. To attend the meeting, email pcisancap@gmail.com to receive the Zoom link, or watch live at www.facebook.com/pcisancap.
