Police Chief Releases Video Message to Take the Pledge

Sanibel Police Chief Bill Dalton released a video message urging citizens to “Take the Pledge” and stay home. Lee County has initiated a pledge to:

Social distance when leaving the house for any reason
Stay at home as much as possible
Practice proper hand washing techniques
Not gather in groups of 10 or more
Stay calm, kind and safe

Chief Dalton also reminds citizens to “say something, if you see something,” by calling the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 239-472-3111. He says it is “imperative to call at the time you witness the violation. Calling anyone other than the Sanibel Police hinders our efforts in correcting the situation.” Call 9-1-1 for serious emergencies.

“I encourage everyone to be part of the solution, not part of the problem,” said Dalton.
