Police Issue Heavy Traffic Advisory For Easter Weekend

Sanibel Police Chief Bill Dalton has issued a heavy traffic advisory for the Easter weekend, April 16-17. Heavy traffic is expected along Periwinkle Way to Tarpon Bay Road due to events taking place. Plan travel accordingly.

The Sanibel Community Church Easter Services, 1740 Periwinkle Way, 9 a.m., 11 a.m. Sunday, April 17
Sanibel Island Farmer’s Market at City Hall, 800 Dunlop Rd., 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday April 17

Sanibel is a walkable and bikeable community and features one of the most extensive shared use paths in the state. Attendees of these special events are encouraged to walk or bicycle if possible. Motorists not attending these events are strongly urged to utilize alternate routes this weekend.

Chief Dalton reminds Sanibel motorists to be especially alert for pedestrians and cyclists crossing the roadway in the area of these events and should anticipate delays. Dalton also urges everyone to “be patient” and follow the direction of law enforcement personnel on-site at these events and in the intersections.
