The Progressives of the Islands (formerly the Progressive Club of the Islands) hosted congressional candidate Harold Sapp at its monthly meeting on Thursday, May 4. A group of 25 members and guests gathered at the Blue Giraffe to hear from the candidate and receive updates on current developments from the organization’s president, Annette Pacyga.
During the meeting, Candidate Sapp presented his progressive platform, outlining his vision and key policy priorities. His presentation was well received by the attendees, sparking engaging discussions among the group.
President Annette Pacyga also addressed the gathering, highlighting the group’s active participation in the recent “No Kings Protest” on Sanibel. The demonstration was a significant success, attracting an estimated crowd of 800 participants. Building on this momentum, Pacyga announced that the next Sanibel protest will take place on August 8 and will be hosted by the League of Women Voters of Sanibel.
In addition to community organizing and events, the Progressives of the Islands is currently updating its digital presence. The organization’s revamped website is expected to launch and become fully active later this month, providing a centralized hub for information, resources, and upcoming activities.
The Progressives of the Islands invites all interested community members to attend their next monthly meeting. The event will take place on June 4th at 4:00 PM at the Ibis Grill Restaurant on Sanibel.
