REVIEW: Return of a Restaurant Favorite

By Shelby Larsen, SC Staff

After covid-caused issues, and a three -month kitchen renovation — featuring the installation of gas cooking equipment —T2 (Traders 2) has returned for island dining.

Chef Steven Mahaffey has given the menu a new look, with a clean, simple, and surprisingly cosmopolitan tilt.

At a pre-opening “party,” diners were treated to samples of the new offerings.

The two Santiva Chronicle staffers who stopped by tasted the Fish en Papillote, steak au Poivre, and steak frites from the new offerings, as well as the Caesar salad which has always been a favorite at the restaurant.

Everything sampled got definite “thumbs up” from our samplers. Judging from the reaction of the large party of guests, the appreciation of the new items was quite positive.

General Manager Patrick Swett gave assurances that other previous favorite dishes of patrons, like the Lamb Burger, Bistro Burger, Fried Green Tomatoes, and Wild Mushroom flatbreads will remain.

They’ll be joined by other new dishes, including Quiche Lorraine, lamb chops, French Onion Soup, and bouillabaisse.

The restaurant seats 70, with both indoor and outdoor seating. While T2 will be open from 11 a.m until 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday for both lunch and dinner, reservations will be available for diners before 6 p.m. and after 7 p.m.

T2 is located in the Village Shops, 2340 Periwinkle.
