Rotary Sponsors Ice Cream Social After International Coastal Cleanup

Rotarian and SCCF Community Conservation Coordinator Skye McDonald, Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club President Sally Haynes, Rotarian Bill Harkey, and Sanibel City Councilmember and Bailey’s General Store owner Richard Johnson.

Members of the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club joined volunteers from across the community on Saturday, September 19, for the International Coastal Cleanup in partnership with the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF).

Volunteers spent the morning helping clean Sanibel’s coastline, removing litter and debris while supporting the health and beauty of the islands’ natural environment.

Following the cleanup, the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club sponsored an Ice Cream Social at the Bailey Homestead Preserve, giving volunteers an opportunity to cool off, connect and celebrate a successful morning of service.

The event was a great opportunity for Rotarians, community members and volunteers to come together around a shared commitment to protecting the islands and giving back to the community. Club members enjoyed spending the morning alongside fellow volunteers and ending the cleanup with fellowship and ice cream.

The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club thanks SCCF, everyone who participated in the cleanup and all who joined the club for the Ice Cream Social.

The International Coastal Cleanup is part of a worldwide effort to remove trash from coastlines and waterways while raising awareness about the importance of protecting marine and coastal environments.
