“Resilient Rebuilding” is the topic of the SanCap Chamber luncheon meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 11:30 a.m. at ‘Tween Waters Inn & Marina on Captiva Island. It will feature a panel of five local experts moderated by Jeff Muddell of Florida Trust Wealth Management and sponsored by Simple Social.
An LEED-accredited contractor, panelist Dan Adams joined Stevens Construction in 2011 and since then has become a key leader known for delivering complex projects on time and budget. He earned his building construction degree from the University of Florida, Gainesville, and has been recognized in Gulfshore Business magazine’s “40 under 40.”
Joining the resiliency panel, Scot Burris, chief executive officer of Storm Smart, combines expertise in operations, business development, and finance to lead the nation’s largest hurricane protection manufacturer – protecting more than 90,000 businesses and residences. A North Carolina State graduate and Harvard Executive Education alumnus, Burris drives innovation and growth in the construction materials industry.
Rudi Hamer brings over 25 years of experience of commercial and residential lending experience, along with a background in insurance, to the panel. In 2017, she joined the staff of Sanibel Captival Community Bank, where she originates commercial loans and develops new relationships. She actively serves her community as a board member for Blessings in a Backpack, Southwest Florida Chapter.
Toni Lapi, president and chief executive officer of ‘Tween Waters Inn & Marina, grew a small Captiva inn into a 137-room, 13-acre full-service resort – the first to reopen on the islands after Hurricane Ian. A dedicated community leader, he chaired VISIT FLORIDA, served on the Lee County Tourist Development Council, and has spent 18 years on the United Way board.
A certified planner with degrees from Smith College in Massachusetts and Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Paula McMichael has led private and public projects across South Florida, specializing in land use, workforce housing, redevelopment, and sustainability.
“Our handpicked panel offers a diverse range of experience with and knowledge of the complex issue of rebuilding to be durable and sustainable,” said John Lai, chamber president and CEO. “They excel at business disaster recovery and will cover everything we need to know at this stage of the game.”
