The Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation recently presented its annual legislative priorities to the Lee County Legislative Delegation, urging our state lawmakers to take bold action for the state’s environment and natural resources.
Florida’s 2026 Legislative Session will run from Jan. 13 to March 13, 2026.
SCCF’s areas of focus are community self-governance, conservation, ecosystem restoration, water quality, harmful algal blooms, and resiliency.
The SCCF environmental policy team also discusses its priorities and provides context to this year’s session in the newest episode of SCCF’s podcast, “Land. Water. Wildlife.”
The episode pulls back the curtain on pre-session buzz, explores which environmentally harmful bills could be making a comeback, and highlights why staying engaged in the legislative process matters for protecting Florida’s natural resources.
“It’s powerful to remember that we all have the ability to be a part of the legislative process and the laws that will be potentially impacting all of us at the state level,” said SCCF Policy Associate Allie Pecenka.” It’s not just reserved for elected officials or nonprofits to be a part of that process.”
