The Sanctuary Golf Club Foundation continues its commitment to support the island’s youth and families, this year again providing a substantial donation to the Sanibel School Fund.

The $10,000 donation will be used to support the school’s STEM program, science, technology, engineering and mathematics-focused specialty at the school which next year will be available for all its K-8 students.

The Sanctuary has graciously played host to the Sanibel School Fund’s fundraising event, the Blue Ribbon Golf Classic every year since 2007. This year’s event will be held on May 14.

With the creation of the club’s Foundation three years ago, The Sanibel School became a focus of its giving, as well.

“The STEM program affords the students of our island access to a unique and dynamic learning experience,” said Ken Kouril, Executive Director of The Sanctuary Golf Club Foundation. “Our board and members have enjoyed watching its progress and its impact. It’s our privilege to support this important initiative educating the youth of our community.”

The Sanctuary’s contributions and all other funds raised through the Blue Ribbon Classic supplement The Sanibel School’s budget to enhance the curriculum.

While the school is public, the private funds from the community are important to maintaining the school’s ranking as one of the best elementary and middle schools in the state, and — most importantly — providing the best education it can for our Islands’ students.

“The Sanctuary has been a proud partner of the Sanibel School Fund for so long,” said Jeff Muddell, president of the Sanibel School Fund. “We’re excited to return for another year of golf, and we’re grateful that the Foundation has chosen to support the STEM program again with this donation.”

Joining The Sanctuary Golf Club Foundation as major sponsors this year is a Sanibel School family, the Betten Family.

Premier sponsors include YOLO Watersports, Champaign Chrysler Dodge Jeep, David and Mika Filkins, The Doss Family, and Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille.

Grand sponsors include Sanibel Captiva Trust Company, John Henshaw, Bank of the Islands,
Dream Vacation Rentals, Congress Jewelers, and an anonymous school family.

You can join the golf tournament on May 14 as a sponsor, or consider purchasing tickets to the post-golf celebration or raffle tickets.

Even if you are not a golfer, your gifts to The Sanibel School are encouraged. If you are interested in joining the event or making a gift, contact TheSanibelSchoolFund@gmail.com or Jeff Muddell at 321-217-3946.
