Sanctuary GC Foundation Helps Restore The Island Community

provided to The Santiva Chronicle

The Sanctuary Golf Club Foundation was created to help those in need who live and work on Sanibel and Captiva Islands through grants to community non-profit organizations. And the community’s needs have never been greater than after Hurricane Ian’s devastation on Sept. 28, 2022. A tour of the islands makes it clear how many have lost their homes, businesses and jobs.

SGCF has worked with its partners to help restore the island community in the following ways:

• Sponsorship of FISH of SanCap rental assistant program for those unable to afford housing costs ($100,000);
• Children’s Education Center, the island’s only preschool, was awarded $150,000 for scholarships and rebuilding costs;
• Community Housing & Resources, the affordable housing organization, was granted $100,000 for needed roof repairs and maintenance on existing homes damaged by the storm;
• The Sanibel School was awarded $30,000 to enrich its STEM program and help teachers replace classroom materials

The Sanctuary Golf Club Foundation continues to work with its non-profit partners to determine ongoing needs, and together will rebuild the islands.
