Sanibel Council Elects Officers; Miller Unanimously Voted Mayor

by SC Reporter Emilie Alfino

After swearing in newly re-elected council members Laura DeBruce, John Henshaw, and Mike Miller, Sanibel City Council unanimously elected Mike Miller to be the next mayor, and in a 3-2 vote Holly Smith was elected Vice Mayor. Former Mayor Richard Johnson had nominated John Henshaw as Vice Mayor, and he and Henshaw voted “no” for Smith.

“I am honored to be re-elected and humbled to be elected mayor,” said Miller. “I will always do the best I can.” He thanked Lyman Welch for running for council.
