Sanibel Library Commissioners Accepting Applications

provided to The Santiva Chronicle

The Sanibel Public Library District Board of Commissioners is accepting applications to fill the term for a vacated board seat. The board plans to appoint one person to fill the seat for a two-year term. The deadline to apply is May 18.

After careful consideration, the SPLD Board chose a candidate at the April 27 meeting. Unforeseen circumstances prevent the candidate from accepting the position. Any candidates who previously applied for the open board seat should reapply if they are still interested. The board is also accepting applications from those who have not previously applied.

The Sanibel Public Library District Board of Commissioners is an independent governing body with responsibility for library fiscal oversight and budget and policy approval, as detailed in House Bill 1381 and by Florida Statute.

The board is composed of seven Sanibel residents who are elected on a non-partisan basis for a four-year term. The board meets monthly on the fourth Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Additional meetings or workshops may be scheduled as needed. The board operates under the Sunshine Law. All discussion and deliberation must take place at a publicly advertised meeting.
