Sanibel Police Aware of Threats to Schools; No Evidence of Credibility

Sanibel Police has said they are aware of a recent trend on social media about threats to schools today, Friday, Dec. 17. Police said they have not received evidence of any credibility to these trending posts; however, officers will be conducting high visibility patrols today throughout the city.

The Sanibel Police Department, in conjunction with local, state and federal law enforcement partners, routinely monitor social media platforms to ensure the safety of the community and schools.

“The citizens and visitors of Sanibel are our first line of defense against criminal activity,” police stated in a release. Anyone who sees disturbing posts or threats, call the Sanibel Police Department at 239-475-3111 or in case of emergency dial 911.
