Sanibel School Fund Receives $2,500 STEM Grant

The CAPTRUST Community Foundation (CCF) recently awarded The Sanibel School Fund a $2,500 grant in support of The Sanibel School’s STEM program. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, The Sanibel School Fund provides 100 percent of the funding for the school’s science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics initiatives.

Robin L. Cook, senior vice president and financial advisor at CAPTRUST, presented the check.

The grant will fund the purchase of a 3D printer, providing students with hands-on opportunities to explore engineering, design, problem-solving, and emerging technologies. The equipment will enhance classroom learning by letting students turn ideas into three-dimensional models and prototypes.

“Investing in education and fostering innovation among our community’s students is incredibly important,” said Cook. “We are proud to support The Sanibel School’s STEM program and help provide students with access to technology that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and real-world learning experiences.”

School officials, including Principal Dr. Millins, teachers, and board members, expressed their appreciation for the grant and noted that the new equipment will expand opportunities for students to engage in project-based learning while developing valuable skills for the future.

“When I learned about this need, I immediately recognized it as an excellent fit for the CAPTRUST Community Foundation, a nonprofit that supports the needs of children around the county,” said Cook. “As an island resident and the grandmother of a first-grade student at The Sanibel School, I was especially pleased to help secure approval for this grant.”
