Get raffle tickets now to support the community’s K-8 students, while also getting a chance to win one of two amazing items.
The Sanibel School Fund is conducting two raffles, in conjunction with its annual Blue Ribbon Golf Classic on May 14, each offering a unique island-themed raffle prize – a 2022 Moke and an original Myra Roberts painting.
Only 400 raffle tickets will be sold for each item, and all proceeds from the raffles will support The Sanibel School’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program.
The Moke, originally a 1960’s beach cruiser, retains its retro island charm with a modern and eco-friendly electric motor. The winner will have the opportunity to select from 10 custom Moke colors and purchase add-ons like radio, canopy, back bench and built-in refrigerator. The Moke is valued at $20,000. Marcel Ventura of YOLO Watersports, a Captiva business that rents Mokes, and Michael and Gretchen Betten are the sponsors of this raffle.
The prize for the second raffle an original 30” x 40” Myra Roberts painting titled “Miss Betty’s Sea School.” The painting is themed specifically for The Sanibel School, and it features Miss Betty teaching a school of fish, a sea turtle, and sea horses, the Sanibel School mascot. The painting is valued at $30,000.
You can get a close-up look at the painting while it is on display at these island locations: the Sanibel Public Library from now until April 9; the Sanibel Captiva Community Bank at 2406 Periwinkle Way from April 11 through April 30; and The Sanibel School from May 2 through May 13.
The annual Sanibel School Fund Blue Ribbon Golf Classic will be held May 14 at The Sanctuary Golf Club. Following the golf outing, SSF will host a dinner and celebration at the Sanibel Community House and announce the winners of the tournament and the raffle. The public is welcome to purchase tickets and join in the celebration.
A $100 donation per raffle ticket is suggested. Tickets for the raffles and the party at the Community House ($100 per person) can be purchased online at The Sanibel School Fund website. The Sanibel School Fund, 3840 Sanibel Captiva Rd, Sanibel, FL 33957, is a dedicated fund of the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, a registered 501(c)(3). Drawing for both raffles will be at 8 p.m. May 14 at the Sanibel Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way. Participants need not be present to win.
