SC Staff Report

The City of Sanibel is under a heavy traffic advisory, especially its main thoroughfare Periwinkle Way, with extremely heavy “season-type” traffic this New Year’s Eve. Sanibel Police Chief Bill Dalton urges drivers to “be patient. Our number one priority is safety.” Historically, the roads are busiest in peak season from 3 to 6 p.m. and typically normalize by early evening. It’s recommended to avoid discretionary trips and off-island travel during these hours.
