Sanibel Captiva Business Women Association will host its luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 at Rosalita’s Cantina with Damyanti Gupta, the first degreed female engineer at Ford, as the featured Speaker.
In honor of March being Women’s History Month, SCBWA is pleased to host Damyanti Gupta, the first degreed female engineer at Ford, as the featured speaker.
Damyanti “Rani” Gupta was the first degreed female engineer Ford Motor Co., breaking the glass ceiling for women in the industry. She is the mother of Neurosurgeon and CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent – Dr. Sanjay Gupta Author, Entrepreneur and American Express Podcaster – Suneel Gupta. She is also grandmother to five girls. Join us to hear Mrs. Gupta’s journey as an immigrant separated from her parents, a bright student in a foreign land, a mother, a woman employed in a male-dominated industry, and what she tells her granddaughters about the glass ceiling. At this luncheon you will learn about her story, her wonderful husband and family, plus her many contributions to our world.
Taylor Osborne, SCBWA President states her enthusiasm about the March Luncheon, “March is a special month for SCBWA as we recognize Women’s History Month and the strides women have made in American history. Women’s History month is dedicated to paying tribute to the achievements of women leaders both past and present. I can’t think of a more suited speaker to join us than Damyanti “Rani” Gupta. Mrs. Gupta truly embodies what it means to be a women pioneer and paved the way for the future by boldly breaking the glass ceiling. We are truly honored to have her as our special guest speaker.”
Sanibel Captiva Business Women’s Association is dedicated to empowering and supporting the women who work and live on the islands through networking, mentorship, continuing education and career advancement.
SCBWA aims to serve the community by offering an inclusive, supportive and diverse group of women supporting women. Our focus is the advancement of women’s career development targeted to workers, aspiring workers and the residents of Sanibel and Captiva. The group meets every third Tuesday of the month at various businesses and restaurants at noon.
