The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation is partnering with Whitney’s Bait & Tackle to host a casting competition at The Watch Party. The event on Sept. 30, now sold out, will support SCCF’s community-based marine conservation and volunteer program Coastal Watch.
During The Watch Party, guests will go head-to-head with Whitney to have their name put on the Golden Rod Trophy — an honor reserved for only the ‘Ultimate Caster.’ The first hour will serve as the qualifying round, where fishermen try to cast their line as close to the target as possible. The five best casters will compete against each other for the chance to go against Whitney for the trophy. The finalists will be introduced to surprises and challenges along the way to the final showdown.
In addition to Whitney’s Bait & Tackle, SCCF is excited to receive support for The Watch Party from South Seas Island Resort and Valerie Tutor, Kingfisher Real Estate, which were named Watch Sponsors.
“Conservation can’t happen in a vacuum, which is why SCCF is proud to be backed by so many businesses in our Sanibel community,” said CEO James Evans. “We’re grateful to be furthering our alliances with South Seas, Valerie Tutor, and Whitney’s Bait & Tackle.”
