SCCF Releases Sea Turtle Nesting Numbers

provided to The Santiva Chronicle

The Sanibel Captiva Conservation foundation has documented 125 loggerhead nests, one of which is pictured above, and one leatherback nest as of May 23 on Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Help protect females and hatchlings by keeping our beaches clean, flat and dark. This means turning off lights and flashlights on or near the beach after 9 p.m., as well as filling in holes and flattening sandcastles, removing beach furniture and properly disposing of food and trash.
