The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation’s Coastal Watch will honor Earth Day by cleaning up beaches and toasting our planet at a special reception. The Sanibel beach cleanup starts with breakfast provided by Bank of the Islands from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 22 at the Bailey Homestead. Cleanup will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sanibel. Earth Day celebrations continue with a Coastal Watch-themed reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Congress Jewelers, 13499 S. Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers. A custom mangrove pendant, crafted in honor of Coastal Watch’s mangrove restoration work, will be on display. The pendant can be ordered in sterling, yellow gold, and yellow gold with diamonds. New Coastal Watch T-shirts will also be available for sale. Wine, champagne and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
