At their first meeting of their 42nd year as a vital part of their parish, the St. Isabel Women’s Guild enjoyed a presentation by the church’s Coordinator of Catechsis, Dr. Sue Ellen Nolan MTS Ed.D. Entitled “What Makes Us Catholic?” Dr. Nolan’s talk focused on the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. The Guild’s 100+ members look forward to their upcoming season promising to support the church and community, both spiritually and financially, through fellowship with both social and charitable fundraising events. Membership is open to all women of the parish. Those interested in joining should contact Dottie McGovern 481-5950.
The sheer irony of the recent decision of the Temporary Administrator of St Isabel’s to dissolve the 41+ year Women’s Guild organization is only made more obvious by the picture in the Santiva Chronicle of these women in action and the words that describe their proactive mission in support of the Catholic Church. Whatever are we becoming??
