St. Michael’s Services Temporarily Move To Mainland

provided to The Santiva Chronicle

Due to the damage to the church property caused by Hurricane Ian, St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church has a new temporary home at Peace Lutheran Church, 15840 McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers. Join us for worship Sundays at 11:30 a.m. followed by coffee hour in the fellowship hall. There is a service with optional healing prayers at 9 a.m. Wednesdays, and staff are available from noon to 3 p.m. to assist you. The regular church office number 239-472-2173 has been forwarded and more about what’s happening can be found at the St. Michael’s website or by contacting any of the staff via email listed on the site.

The St. Michael’s property suffered extensive wind and water damage from Hurricane Ian. Services are temporarily being held at Peace Lutheran Church, Fort Myers. Photos provided; see more at the St. Michael’s website.

The church is the people not the buildings and we are thankful to report all are safe. However, the property suffered extensive wind and water surge of 5 feet in the sanctuary, office building, hall and Noah’s Ark Thrift Shop. Photos can be seen on our website along with updates. A restoration company is already on the ground hard at work. We look forward to returning to the island as soon as possible and helping the entire Sanibel community be restored and rebuilt. We have also set up a Hurricane Ian Relief Fund that will be used to help those in need on the island and help rebuild the church. Donations can be made through the church’s website.
