Tarpon Bay Explorers Welcomes Two New Faces

Tarpon Bay Explorers, the official concessionaire for the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, invites you to welcome two new staff members to their working family. In an effort to provide excellent customer service, the Explorers filled two additional positions this year including a fishing captain & mechanic. The company provides guided eco-tours by kayak, standup paddleboard, pontoon boat and tram for the refuge. They also offer fishing charters on Tarpon Bay as well as kayak canoe, standup paddleboard, Hobie fishing kayak, family pontoon boat and bicycle rentals. A unique, nature-themed gift shop is onsite.

Simon Martinez- Marine Mechanic
Simon is a native Floridian. Simon was Born in Dade City, but grew up in Immokalee. Though born and raised in Florida, Simon has lived all over the country ranging from Texas to Ohio. He settled in Ft. Myers with his wife and two daughters in 2002. When not at work, Simon enjoys an eclectic range of hobbies ranging from coin collecting, working on muscle cars and fixing broken electronics. Simon is excited to be a part of the team that partners with the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge and enjoys bringing his two daughters out to the island for bike rides, kayaking and boat trips.

Paul Petersen- Fishing Charter Captain
Captain Paul is a native Floridian originally from West Palm Beach. Paul moved over to the west coast when he was relocated for work as a Biotech for Algenol. Paul has fit right in with the Tarpon Bay family especially since Paul has always been a water dog. In his spare time, he remains on the water either fishing, diving or paddling. Paul has been enjoying his time at Tarpon Bay thus far and has had success finding the fish. Captain Paul is excited that he gets to work outdoors with people who share a passion for nature, conservations and stewardship.
