FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company is offering a complimentary luncheon seminar about estate planning from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 9 at Robb & Stucky, 13170 S. Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers.
“Protect Your Castle” will be led by attorney Janet Strickland, who specializes in wills, trusts and estate planning. She will talk about decisions women need to make when they become single through divorce or death of a spouse or partner, including money management, issues with children and how to date again without sharing too much information.
“Not taking control of their own financial matters is often an issue for women,” said Megan Marquardt, CFP®, CTFA, Wealth Services Advisor, The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company. “By not doing so, they risk losing a financial safety net if life doesn’t go according to plan through divorce or death of a spouse or partner.”
The Wisdom of Women lecture series concludes March 30 with “Paving the Way” with Damyanti “Rani” Gupta, the first degreed female engineer at Ford Motor Co. and mother of neurosurgeon and CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Rachel Pierce, former NBC news anchor and owner of the Rachel Pierce Art Gallery on Sanibel Island, will interview Gupta about being an immigrant separated from her parents, a woman in a male-dominated industry and what she tells her granddaughters about the glass ceiling. The program will cover generational gifting.
