Three Minor Vehicle Crashes Reported

Mary Aufderheide was traveling east on Periwinkle Way at 3:42 p.m. Tuesday, May 31 when her vehicle was struck by a vehicle operated by Nathalie Pyle, who was making a left turn from Dunlop Road. No injuries were reported.

Salvatore Cross was traveling east on Periwinkle Way at 7:23 p.m. Tuesday, May 31 when a vehicle in front of his suddenly stopped and Cross swerved into the westbound lane of traffic to avoid a collision. But his vehicle struck a westbound vehicle, which did not stop. The second vehicle was never located. No injuries were reported.

Emma Bloomquist was in the turning lane on Periwinkle Way to travel north on Causeway Boulevard at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, June 1 when the back of her vehicle was struck by a vehicle operated by Hallie Mesics. Bloomquist’s vehicle then struck the back of a vehicle operated by Jasier DalPonte. No injuries were reported.

Animal Reports

An officer responded to a home on Birdie View Point on Tuesday, May 31 for an iguana which had become trapped in a pool cage. The officer was able to free the iguana.

An alligator disrupting traffic in the 4200 block of Sanibel Captiva Road was reported Thursday, May 26, but the animal was gone when the officer arrived on the scene.

Two iguanas were reported Friday, May 27 sunning themselves by a pool deck near the mangroves at a home on Yachtsman Drive.

A coyote was sighted Wednesday, June 1 in the area of Casa Ybel Road and Periwinkle Way.

An injured osprey was located Monday, May 30 along Peaceful Drive. It was captured by officers and transported to Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife.
