Trailways Camp Recognizes Support of Island Businesses

The Annual “I AM SPECIAL” Trailways Camper Reunion event scheduled for April 10 was postponed due to COVID concerns, but the Planning Committee chose to celebrate some of the Sanibel Island businesses that have made the event possible in the past by thanking them, recognizing them and visiting them.

“These businesses were recognized for welcoming and supporting adults with special needs living and working in our community through their annual contributions of time, service and in kind donations,” said Jerry Miller, co-founder of Trailways Camp. “The support provided has made it possible for the campers to have social and activity experiences that bring joy to their lives.”

Bailey’s General Store, the Cedar Chest Fine Jewelry, Island Ballroom, Sanibel Café, Jerry’s Grocery, Sanibel Deli, Sanibel Skin Spa, and Shalimar Resort received a visit from Sharon & Jerry Miller along with Anna Mullvain, the Trailways Camp Coordinator to present a formal plaque of appreciation, camp mug, and a personal Thank You note from the family of Benjamin Miller, Honorary Chair in past years.

An announcement will be made when the 2022 date is finalized.
