Turner Beach Parking Lot Reopens After Hurricane Ian

The City of Sanibel and Lee County will open beach parking at Turner Beach, 17200 Captiva Drive, Captiva today, April 7, where there are 25 parking spaces, plus 2 handicapped spaces.

Turner Beach has been closed since Sept. 29, 2022, after Hurricane Ian made landfall in Sanibel and Lee County. The beach is owned by Lee County but managed by Sanibel through an interlocal agreement. Lee County DOT and the City of Sanibel Public Works staff worked in collaboration to repair damages to the facility. The restrooms at Turner Beach remained closed; however, Lee County has staged portable toilets at the site for patron use.

The cost to park at Turner Beach is $5 per hour. Patrons with a Lee County Regional Parking Permit or a Sanibel Beach Parking Permit may park at Turner Beach at no cost. Beach patrons cannot park their vehicles on city streets. Violators will be fined $150.
