Robin Cook, left, and Marla Manning combine their talents to create art for the Zonta Peek at the Unique auction.

Two creative Sanibel islanders, philanthropists and best friends, Robin Cook and Marla Manning, spent the weekend with a purpose, turning their art projects into a meaningful act of generosity. The friends spent days combining their artistic talents to create the one-of-a-kind jeweled seahorses as a way to give back to a cause they care deeply about.

Each piece reflects hours of careful design, hand placement of jewelry elements, and a shared commitment to making a difference. “We wanted to do something creative that could help other women and girls,” the pair shared. “If our artwork can inspire someone or help raise money for important programs, then that means everything to us.”

These unique creations have been donated by Robin and Marla to the upcoming Zonta Peek at the Unique tour and charity auction on March 14 at the Sanibel Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way, where they will be auctioned to raise funds for the Zonta Club of Sanibel‑Captiva. All of the proceeds will support Zonta’s programs that uplift women and girls. Community members are encouraged to attend, bid, and celebrate the next generation of changemakers.

Supporting Zonta’s Mission

The Zonta Club of Sanibel‑Captiva has long been recognized for its dedication to improving the lives of women through service, advocacy, and education. Peek at the Unique is one of its signature fundraising events, drawing community members together to celebrate creativity, philanthropy, and the power of collective action.

The organization, a long‑standing nonprofit on the islands, has spent more than 30 years supporting women and girls locally, regionally, and globally. Funds raised through Peek at the Unique help advance education, provide safety resources, and empower women to build stronger futures.

Marla and Robin’s contribution adds a heartfelt, creative, and unique touch to this year’s auction, reminding attendees that empowerment can begin at any age—and that art can be a powerful tool for change.
