Upcoming Programs At Sanibel Library

Sanibel Public Library has planned in-person programs including weekly crafts, storytimes, tech help, and virtual author programs. The library’s public online calendar has the most up-to-date information about programs for children and adults.

These upcoming library programs are open to the public. No registration is required:

Family story time at the library

• Readers aged 16 and up are invited to participate in Adult Summer Reading Bingo! Pick up your Adult Summer Bingo card from the Library and keep track of the books you read from June 1 through August 31. Those who complete a bingo on their card will be entered into a lottery for a chance to win a Sanibel Public Library Book Bundle which includes a SPL tote bag filled with themed books.

• All ages are invited to a Crafternoon full of fun on Wednesdays at 3 p.m. You’ll be able to make wire-wrapped jewelry on August 7 and DIY Stained Glass on August 14! A variety of craft supplies will be available along with examples of craft options to complete. Library staff will guide the program. • Family Storytime will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Fridays. Storytime is a hands-on family bonding experience for children aged five and under and their caregivers. Kids will get to sing, read, question, and move around during Storytime and complete a literacy craft center afterward.

• On Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., babies and their caregivers are invited to participate in a short storytime and sensory play filled with literacy activities and more! Perfect for ages 0 to 3 years old.

Smithsonian Virtual Author Talk

• Upcoming Virtual Author Talks include: “Your All Access Pass Behind the Scenes at the Space Station” with Smithsonian Curator Dr. Jennifer Levasseur on Wednesday, August 7 at 2 p.m. and “The Golden Ticket to College Admissions Is Not What You Think: Redefining Success for Parents of Teens” with Irena Smith, PhD on Thursday, August 15 at 2 p.m. Head to the library’s online calendar for links to register for these virtual talks. • Sanibel Public Library offers “Computer Coach” services; book an appointment to bring in your device for technology assistance with Hoopla, Kanopy, Libby, and other Library apps. These apps allow library cardholders to download eBooks, magazines, and audiobooks, or stream music and movies. Call the library at (239) 472-2483 to schedule an appointment.

• Sanibel Public Library cards are available to all residents of Sanibel and Lee County, at no charge. You must present your valid driver’s license (or similar government ID) to staff, showing your current Lee County address. Visitor cards for non-Lee County residents are available for a $10 fee and are good for one year. Computers, printers, scanners, and fax services as well as magazines and daily newspapers are also available. • Sanibel Public Library summer hours are in effect from June 1 through August 31. The library is open 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Monday and Thursday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday.
